The Friends of Shady Lane Cemetery group was founded in 2021 by Louise McDonnell after she visited the cemetery and discovered its deplorable condition. We incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in early 2022 in order to raise money and organize volunteers to maintain the cemetery.
Our Board of Directors consists of the following individuals: Chris Calvey, Jr., Donna Evans (Secretary), Kori Grogan, Jimmy Keeler (Treasurer), Bill Lester, Louise McDonnell (Vice President), Tim Rowland, and Carol Wilkerson (President). All of these individuals serve in a volunteer capacity to guide the organization in carrying out its mission to save Shady Lane Cemetery.
If you are looking for someone buried at Shady Lane, we have downloadable maps of the cemetery as a whole and most of the individual sections of the cemetery, along with two Excel spreadsheets of partial burial records, available under the File tab of our Facebook group. Official burial information is incomplete and only extends to 1985, but we are collecting information on the post-1985 burials. We also document burials on the website Find a Grave so that family members will have access to records and gravestone pictures.
